R. Daniel Truitt commenced his career as a professional aviator as a Distinguished Graduate of U.S. Air Force officer training in 1963. Upon completion of Air Force pilot training in 1964, he trained in F-4 Phantoms and completed a combat tour in Vietnam, where he was decorated with the Distinguished Fying Cross, for valor. Assignments over the next 20 years included world-wide postings in a variety of piloting and aviation management positions including a leadership stint for the Inspector General of Air Defense, Tactical Air Command, specializing in aviation safety inspection and air operations management. He commenced his airline career in 1984 as a flight engineer on B-727s for People Express Airlines and continued working for Continental Airlines as a pilot on DC-10s and B-737s, attaining the rank of captain. He attended law school part time while working as a flight crew member and received his JD from Seton Hall Law in 1995, winning the award for best brief in the school's interscholastic moot court competition. Following work in a firm specializing in aviation tort and regulatory law in 1996, he formed his own firm to advise attorneys on all aspects of commercial and military aviation liability. |
