Expert in the impact of dementia on the lifestyle and functioning in the elderly, making accurate diagnoses (e.g. differentiating dementia from depression or delirium), and knowing when medications, behavioral, or environmental interventions are most appropriate. Expert in the effects of prescription drugs on the body, drug-drug interactions, "psychiatric" side effects of prescribed and over-the-counter medications, and the effect medical and neurological conditions have on the effectiveness of medications.
