Anita B. Lasswell, Ph.D., R.D., C.D.E.

Dr. Lasswell holds a doctorate in health education with areas of specialization in health behavior, community health and health communication from the University of Maryland which she received in 1995. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi International Honor Society. Her master's degree is in Dietetics and Nutrition which she received in 1975 at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. Dr. Lasswell obtained a bachelor of science degree in Foods and Nutrition from Florida State University in 1974. She is a registered dietitian and a certified diabetes educator.

Dr. Lasswell has over 24 years of experience in nutrition education and research, public health nutrition, and medical nutrition therapy, and has taught in schools of medicine, nursing, public health, and departments of health education and dietetics throughout her long and distinguished career. She is also the author of a recognized text on nutrition in primary care and 4 multimedia programs designed to teach nutrition to physicians and has published over 30 scientific papers, monographs, and reports in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Lasswell is a sought after public speaker and has conducted over 100 presentations to various professional and lay audiences throughout the US. She has been given numerous awards and citations including notation in Who's Who in America, Year 2000 edition, the American Dietetic Association's Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award and Outstanding Service Award,and was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel by the governor of the commonwealth of Kentucky for her service as a nutrition educator.
