Robert J Bargar earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College, his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, and his Masters degree in Health Services Administration from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Bargar holds a Medical License from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as well as an Insurance Advisor License. He is Board Certified in Quality Assurance/Utilization Review, Public Health/Preventative Medicine, and Medical Management. Dr. Bargar is a member of the American College of Physician Executives and the National Association of Physician Broadcasters. Dr. Bargar has been a leading consultant to the healthcare industry since 1986, with an extensive client list including John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company/Unicare (for whom he served as a Medical Director and developed their National Transplant Network), GMIS (where as Associate Medical Director he designed ClaimCheck, the first fully automated cost-containment system for healthcare), Optimed Physician Review (where as Chief Medical Officer he developed and managed a multi-specialty staff of review physicians, and Medical Intelligence, Inc./GMIS (where he was Coordinator and Lead Clinical Designer for a clinical software system to manage disability leave, and Review Physician for Medical Intelligence Review Service). Dr. Bargar published "Lessons for Providers from a Purchaser's Perspective" in The Physician Executive 18(1);17-20, Jan-Feb 1992. Dr. Bargar has written the Introduction and Conclusion chapters of Tools for the Task: The Role of Clinical Guidelines, published by The American College of Physician Executives in 1997. |
