Practice Areas
Failure Analysis
Analysis of failures in materials, machines, structures and components to determine the cause. Typically, a combination of examination of fracture surface and/or deformation morphology is employed in conjunction with stress and material analysis. Forensic failure analyses have been carried out in conjunction with automobile, truck, and motorcycle accidents, building collapses, and accidents involving numerous industrial machines as well as consumer products.
Metallurgy
Metallurgical procedures are commonly employed in failure analyses. These may included fractography, metallography, microsopy, hardness and stress testing, chemical analysis, and radiography.
Welding
Failure analysis of welds in order to determine the presence of defects and the cause of weld failure.
Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering, including stress and design analysis are often integral aspects of a failure analysis.
